Amlodipine and cannabis use the same enzyme in the liver to get metabolized (i.e. broken down so they can be eliminated from the body) BUT cannabis can block the enzyme that amlodipine needs to be metabolized. SO, you could get a build up of amlodipine in your body possibly causing even lower blood pressure than desired. SO, monitor your blood pressure and TELL your healthcare provider you use cannabis so they can monitor you appropriately. DO NOT change your dose or how you take amlodipine until you talk with your healthcare provider.
